Keep READMEs and notes next to your data

Write descriptions of a directory in its S3 README, and team-wide announcements and guides to where things are stored in the Team note. Both support Markdown, and you can check their edit history.

Write a directory README

Open the directory in Storage and click Edit, the pencil button to the right of the README heading. If there is no README yet, you can write one from Create, the plus button. Record things such as the contents, file formats, processing conditions, and notes on usage.

You can read the description of a directory before opening any of its files.

You can edit Markdown while inserting files from the list on the left into the body.

The README body is written back to S3. This requires a writable connection and a setting that allows Edit READMEs.

Write the Team note on Home

Home has one Team note shared across all of mado. You can put content there that does not belong to a directory, such as what each storage is used for, work procedures, and team announcements.

The Team note is a memo shared across the team. Its body is stored in mado's database.

Check changes in the history

Click History to see who edited, when, and the past versions of the body. Edits use the signature saved in Account. You cannot change the name in the editor. The signature belongs to your account and remains the same across browsers.
